President Trump to Impose New Tariffs on Goods from Canada, Mexico, and China

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, President Trump signed Executive Orders to add a 25% tariff duty rate to products from Canada and Mexico as set forth in the Federal Register Notices below. Energy or energy resources from Canada were only going to be charged an additional tariff duty rate of 10%. That same day, President Trump also signed an Executive Order to add an additional 10% tariff duty rate for products from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Hong Kong as set forth in the Federal Register Notice below. All additional duty rates were set to go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on February 4, 2025
